There is now new dosing directions for children and infants acetaminophen products. Makers of acetaminophen products including TYLENOL® are changing the concentration amount that they put in their medications. These changes are intended to standardize and correct any medication errors. Some companies already have their new acetaminophen in stores but the rest will be changed over the next few months as the old products leaves shelf’s. What you should know
- The old acetaminophen is 3x more concentrated then the new medication.
- Over the next few months the old and new products might both be on the shelf’s at your local stores or even in your cabinets. It is very important that you pay attention to the dosage.
- Using the new product but following the old dosage could result in liver damage or overdose.

- Always read and follow the directions that are given to you on your medications label
- Always give the appropriate amount of medication by following the weight and age chart
- Only healthcare professionals can give the right dosage for children under the age of 2

Old Concentration was 80mg per 0.8 ml
New concentration is 160mg per 5 ml
